Building a Longevity Network for the Future

Susan Donley March 26, 2019

As Stria marks our first anniversary, we are poised to expand our network and provide even more value for subscribers, sponsors and the field.

One year ago, Stria set out to create something new for the growing longevity market. A media platform that brings together a cross-section of leaders, thinkers and innovators in aging. A place to learn new things, share ideas and discover new ways of thinking about the challenges and opportunities of our aging society.

Thanks to you and the nearly 30,000 longevity market professionals who have read strianews.com, we’re celebrating this anniversary with an eye toward the future. As Stria moves into our second year, I want to take a moment to note our progress, share our plans and thank you for being a part of our journey so far.

A New Kind of Longevity Network

Over the past 12 months, Stria has amassed a unique audience of longevity market professionals. You and your fellow readers make up a distinct, multi-sector network like no other in our field.

From nonprofit and association executives to business leaders and founders to consultants and vendors, the Stria community reflects the depth and diversity of the market itself.

Stria’s Longevity Market Network

As more professionals are coming to the longevity market, they’re finding an important industry touch-point in Stria. We’re proud that our network includes some of the most well known names in our field as well as many new and emerging leaders. Moving forward, we’ll continue to grow this new kind of longevity network, and help deploy it to energize and unite the field.

We’re Listening—and Improving

Stria’s mission is all about advancing the longevity market and ultimately helping to build a society that values, supports and serves older people. That starts with providing real value to our readers, subscribers and advertisers.

We’re already well on our way: 95 percent of our full-access subscribers say Stria is valuable to them—with 60 percent saying Stria is “very” or “extremely” valuable. But we’re not stopping there. In addition to providing everything you’ve come to expect from Stria, we’re making some changes to give you more of what you’ve asked for.

Context and Perspective: First and foremost, you will continue to find stories that help put issues into broader context. You told us this is what you most expect from Stria. Count on us to surface new thinking and cover big picture issues like ageism and equity to help you stay in touch with the thought leadership that matters most.

Innovation In Action: You’ve also said you want to learn about the leading edge of the field. We’ll publish more stories in our Innovation in Action series so you can on top of how new ideas are being realized. We also recently launched a new initiative zooming in on the longevity market in local communities to find lessons and inspiration.

Voices and Connections: You told us you want to learn from and connect with people working in all parts of the field. To that end, look for even more expert essays and Q&As, bringing a wide range of voices to the pages of strianews.com. We’ll work will industry partners to offer more discounted conference registrations, and will increase the frequency of event coverage to keep you connected even when you can’t attend in person. I’m especially excited about hosting more Stria Live networking events to bring together our community virtually and in person.

Your insight and feedback has been a critical part of what guides us. That’s not ending. You’ll continue to see polls, surveys and requests for input throughout Stria. I encourage you to use those opportunities to let us know how we can do better. Your contributions help us increase our value to the field—so please keep it coming!

More Value for Full-Access Subscribers

On top of these changes, we’re bolstering our service for our most loyal readers. Full-access subscribers will continue to get unlimited access to all of Stria’s reporting—plus, you can expect even more exclusive reports, downloads and special content in coming months. Also Stria Live events will be free for subscribers starting this year.

If you’re an occasional reader, I invite you to subscribe for full access. We’re not raising our annual subscription price this year, so you can still take advantage of everything Stria offers for just $98/year.

As we head into this exciting next phase, I thank all of you who have made Stria’s first year full of productivity, learning and growth. The feedback and enthusiasm of our readers has been inspiring, and the support from our sponsors and Stria Studio clients has been invaluable. I look forward to continuing our work together to strengthen the field we all care about so deeply.

One year of progress… and counting!
